Public Meeting Announced for the Complete Streets Prioritization Plan
Westfield – The City of Westfield is holding a public meeting on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm at the Westfield City Hall City Council Chambers located at 59 Court Street.
The meeting will present a draft complete streets project prioritization plan and solicit public comment.
Residents of Westfield are invited to provide their input on how funds from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation’s Complete Streets Program should be spent in the City of Westfield. The Complete Streets program provides state funding for cities to improve streets and other transportation infrastructure to better serve vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, and transit users.
The Westfield City Council voted in April 2022 to implement a Complete Streets ordinance to gain Tier I status under MassDOT’s complete streets funding program. The City of Westfield is currently working with Fuss & O’Neill to develop a Complete Streets Prioritization Plan, which will result in a list of 15 potential transportation improvement projects. If approved, the program will make the City eligible to apply for up to $500,000 in construction funding for one or more of these projects. MassDOT has agreed to provide $38,000 for reimbursement to the City of Westfield for the creation of this plan.
The prioritization plan is expected to be complete ahead of MassDOT’s September 1, 2023 deadline.
