ArtiCulture 2023 Brings Artists, Authors and Musicians to Amelia Park Arena
Save the dates! Westfield’s largest art and cultural experience returns to the arena floor.
Westfield MA April 17, 2023 --- ArtWorks Westfield, a Westfield-based arts & cultural organization promoting the rich and talented artistic diversity of Westfield and the surrounding communities, is excited to present its sixth annual ArtiCulture experience on May 5-6 at the Amelia Park Arena. This dynamic and interactive showcase of local and regional artists, authors and musicians will take place on Friday, May 5 from 6-8pm, and Saturday, May 6 from 10am-4pm. Admission is FREE. The talent and creativity are priceless!
Amelia Park Arena is located at 21 South Broad Street in Westfield, directly across from the Big Y Supermarket and behind the Westfield Post Office.
“ArtiCulture has experienced explosive growth since inception six years ago,” explains Cheryl Crowe, ArtWorks Westfield Treasurer and team producer of the event. “The ArtiCulture exhibition has moved to three different, larger Westfield locations since 2016 to accommodate the growing popularity of the event. After our initial groundbreaking collaboration with the Amelia Park Arena team in 2022 to bring ArtiCulture to the floor of the NHL size hockey rink, ArtWorks Westfield has found a permanent home for our annual springtime ArtiCulture celebration of art, literature and live music all under one roof!”
A production of ArtWorks of Westfield Inc., ArtiCulture Westfield is part of our continuing efforts to bring creators and community together to engage, inform, educate, entertain, empower and inspire. New, emerging, experienced and professional artists will come together to show their work in one of the largest art shows in the greater Westfield area. Much of the artwork on display will be available for purchase.
In tandem with the gallery art show, ArtiCulture Westfield will host a number of local authors, writers and poets. Signed copies of books will be available for purchase.
“We are thrilled to attract so many very talented and skillful creatives to Westfield to share their creativity with our community,” commented Bill Westerlind, President and founder of ArtWorks of Westfield Inc. “The response to our call for artists and authors has been extraordinary, with over seventy artists and authors from western MA and New England showcasing their work in the largest exhibition in the history of our group.”
In addition to the large contingent of local and regional artists and authors, this year’s ArtiCulture extravaganza will feature a number of local musical performers. This year’s line-up kicks off with the eclectic duo SEDATEPHOBIA, who will perform from 6-8pm on opening night. The tunes continue throughout the day on Saturday with Bekka Dowland at 10am, Jess and Jon of Whiskey Traveler at noon, and Kittie and The Beard at 2pm. This year all musical performances will be presented in the lobby area of the arena which offers ample seating and favorable acoustics.
“Our collaborative partnership with the team at Amelia Park Arena has been truly amazing,” said Westerlind. “This collaborative effort reflects one of our founding principles to partner with other Westfield community organizations to positively engage and grow our community.” Other ArtiCulture 2023 community collaborative partners include the Amelia Park Children’s Museum, displaying children’s art; Westfield On Weekends, celebrating their 20th year of bringing community experiences to the city; and WhipCity Wordsmiths, a writer’s support and educational group based in Westfield and founded by Westfield author and ArtWorks Westfield board member Susan Buffum.
"The WhipCity Wordsmiths have had author tables at Articulture since 2018,” said Buffum. This year we are excited to have five local and regional authors making their first appearance at ArtiCulture. The variety of genres range from children's to horror. The WhipCity Wordsmiths will also have a table. We welcome new members to the group. Applications will be available."
A raffle will be held during the two day exhibition with all proceeds supporting the ArtWorks Westfield Cultural Arts Scholarship Fund set to launch in the fall of 2023.
“ArtiCulture is certainly worth seeing for yourself,” noted Crowe. “It features the latest in new artistic talent from children’s artwork, to young and upcoming artists, music for the soul, and literary talent taking you away on a journey.”
Westerlind added, “Be sure to wear your walking shoes and budget lots of time to stroll the extensive arena gallery space, engage with the many artists and authors and experience the diverse mix of musical offerings. And don’t forget that Mother’s Day falls on May 14th on the following weekend. This show offers an excellent opportunity to pick up a truly special and unique gift for Mom.”
ArtiCulture is made possible by a very generous donation from Westfield Gas and Electric, and by grants from both the Westfield Cultural Council and the Massachusetts Cultural Council. Additional support is provided by our members, community supporters, and donors.
“ArtWorks of Westfield shares a warm thank you to our community for your support; Amelia Park as
“ArtiCulture’s host; Westfield Gas & Electric as ArtiCulture’s gracious sponsor; Westfield Cultural Council and Mass Cultural Council grant support; Westfield’s local business donations,” radiated Crowe, “and to our ArtWorks Westfield team members working effortlessly to put on this show and other events throughout the year. It truly takes a team to make things happen.”
