Amelia Park Arena to host Boston Bruins Alumni Game
Amelia Park Arena, alongside the Westfield Police Department, is set to host the Boston Bruins Alumni Team as a fundraiser for Amelia Park. The event will be held on Saturday February 24th at 1pm and will feature the Bruins Alumni Team vs. the Officers of our Local Police Department. The Westfield PD has graciously decided to donate their portion of the fundraiser to the Hockey for Heroes Foundation, a charity whose mission is “to provide support and financial assistance to first responders and the families thereof who have been injured or killed in the line of duty".
Westfield PD and Amelia Park have been working hand in hand in planning this year’s Bruins Alumni game, Officer Patrick Lusteg has been pivotal in helping spearhead the fundraising efforts. Lusteg will also be the starting goalie for the Black and Blue and had this to say; “We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Amelia Park. This is a great opportunity for the community to come watch their first responders play against some Bruins Legends, all for a great cause.” Lusteg formally played Varsity Hockey for Westfield High School and is excited to play in another big game in his home arena. “We’re definitely looking forward to representing our city and showcasing our skills on our hometown ice.”
The Boston Bruins Alumni Game is one of many events planned at Amelia Park for 2024 as the Arena continues to search for ways to generate ancillary income. “We continue to try and spread the word that we are a non-profit arena and need the community’s support.” Said Amelia Park General Manager Billy Fellows. “These types of events are the fundraisers we love doing. It is just awesome to get the whole community involved and I especially love seeing how much the kids enjoy coming to this game” said Fellows. “The Westfield PD has been awesome to work with and I look forward to seeing them put on a show for the fans.”
With an affordable ticket price of $10 a person, the game is anticipated to draw hundreds of fans from all over the Pioneer Valley. Tickets can be purchased the day of the event or by visiting the front desk at Amelia Park Arena.
