Amelia Park Arena set to launch new "Community Give Back Initiative
Amelia Park Arena is excited to announce a new program designed to give back to the local community. The “Community Give Back Initiative” consists of a myriad of events and gestures, set to support the community that the arena calls home. The initiative has been created as a way for Amelia Park to show compassion and generosity to the community that supports the rink so graciously, year after year.
As a non-profit organization, Amelia Park Arena understands the importance of giving back and supporting one another. The new initiative consists of a variety of ways to do just that, including a canned food drive to “Shutout Hunger”, a new scholarship, free public skating day and an animal rescue skate. These items join other events at the arena throughout the year that are designed to give back, such as the new Breast Cancer Awareness Skate and Annual Sled Hockey Tournament.
Board President Kevin Chrisanthopoulos moved to Westfield in 2006 and has been involved in Amelia Park Arena ever since. Whether it be coaching, serving as Former President of Westfield Youth Hockey, or Current President of the Amelia Park Arena Board of Trustees, Kevin knows the importance of community support. “I don’t think people realize how crucial their support of Amelia Park is and how grateful we are. I watched my kids grow up at the rink and it is just such a special place in this town.” said Chrisanthopoulos. “As a non-profit organization, we can’t provide this beautiful facility for the community without everyone’s continued support, it has really inspired us to show the same level of support to others”.
It has long been the mission of Amelia Park Arena to bring the community together by providing access to a quality recreational facility. Now, The Community Give Back Initiative is set to bring the community together in other ways. The canned food drive will help those in need this winter, the free public skating day will give families of all economic status a chance to enjoy the facility, and the scholarship will see the youth who call Amelia Park home, be rewarded for their hard work.
The new initiative was organized by Amelia Park Arena General Manager Billy Fellows, a Westfield Native who wants to see not just the arena, but the community as a whole thrive. "Billy has continually shown great passion and enthusiasm in all he does for Amelia Park Skating Arena and Gardens. His Community Give Back Initiative is a homerun as it aligns beautifully with Mr. Ferst's mission of giving back to the children, families and the community as a whole, in Westfield and throughout Pioneer Valley." Said Amelia Park Arena Board of Trustees Member Beth Lusteg.
The Community Give Back Initiative is set to launch in the beginning of 2024. Be sure to follow Amelia Park Arena on social media for more announcements and event dates.
