Amelia Park Arena Set to Host Four Major Events in Five‐Week Span

Amelia Park Arena will be hosting four marquee events this spring, beginning with the 25th

Annual New England Invitational Sled Hockey Tournament from April 4-6. One of the best

events of the year, Sled Hockey kicks off an exciting stretch of happenings at Amelia Park.

Other events on the docket include; The Spring Classic (Apr.11-13), Cornhole Tournament

(Apr. 26) and Artworks Westfield Annual Articulture Show (May 2-3). The Spring Classic and

Cornhole Tournament are set to see their 4th year, both were created as ways for the non-profit

arena to generate ancillary income throughout the year when the ice may not be fully booked.

Amelia Park Arena General Manager Billy Fellows is excited to kick off the event season with

Sled Hockey. “It’s no doubt one of my favorite events of the year. Longtime Coordinator Dale

Wise unfortunately passed away in 2022 and it has been an absolute honor to take the reins

and keep this amazing tournament going in our community”. Dale’s impact on the sled hockey

world is very apparent throughout the tournament weekend and Amelia Park makes sure he is

never forgotten. “To honor Dale we present the Dale Wise Sportsmanship Award to one of the

tournament teams each year. All of the teams have so many great things to say about him, he

was truly a special person.” said Fellows. The award presentation will take place Saturday April

5th at 12pm, Senator John Velis will be doing the honors.

From one group of talented athletes to the next, Sled Hockey is followed up with the Spring

Classic. The tournament is set to see 16 teams across 3 divisions compete for the “Classic

Cup”. This year’s event will feature 18+ A/B Divisions and a 40+ Division. The rink will be filled

with local NCAA, ACHA and High School players as the tournament continues to grow in both

size and talent. With games starting at 930am Friday and ending Sunday at 7pm, there are

plenty of opportunities to watch some great hockey at Amelia Park.

The week after the Spring Classic, the ice is melted down for Amelia Park’s shutdown period.

After a few days of cleanup, the wide open concrete slab leaves a perfect and unique space for

events. The 4th Annual Amelia Park Cornhole Tournament will be the first beneficiary of the

space as dozens of teams compete in all day tourney with a chance to win cash prizes. The

tournament is presented by PeoplesBank, and will feature Tin Bridge Brewing and North Elm Butcher Block,

making it an all-around awesome collaboration of local organizations.

The last event to wrap up the busy five-week span is Artworks Westfield Annual “Articulture”

Show. In its fourth year at Amelia Park, Articulture features over 70 artists spread out inside the

melted down rink. Local artists get a chance to showcase their talent and hard work for all to

see. The event is in its ninth year overall and also features authors, live music and food trucks.

Articulture helps Artworks raise funds to host a myriad of other events for the town of Westfield

throughout the year.

Looking at the rest of the spring and summer, there are still plenty of events lined up for Amelia

Park Arena. There will be a special 25th Anniversary Party to thank local community members

on May 15th, 3 v 3 Summer Showdown (June 21), Amelia Park Night at the Starfires (June 26)

and a 25th Anniversary Golf Tournament at East Mountain Country Club (Aug 16).

Fall Events with dates to be announced later include the return of Free Community Public

Skating Day, Animal Rescue Skate, Haunted Rink and Skate with Santa.

“I speak on behalf of the entire Board of Trustees when I say we are thrilled with how many

annual events we now have at our facility.” Said Amelia Park Board of Trustees President Kevin

Chrisanthopoulos. “Each event offers something a little different for our patrons and it is

awesome to see Amelia being utilized as a key resource for our community.”

All of the events being held at Amelia Park not only serve as fundraisers for the non-profit

organization, but offer a great opportunity for the community to come together. All four major

events coming up at the arena offer free admission for spectators. For questions on event

registration or attendance please email BFellows@ameliaparkarena.org.
